Peer Status Affects Social Self-Perception and Predicts Emotional Outcomes for Adolescents in China

This study investigates likeability and self-perception for the association between popularity and depression. Participants responded to self-perception questionnaires about depression and social situations and nominated their peers's likeability and popularity. A mediation analysis suggested that peer status may indirectly affect depression through social self-perception.
