Abstract
Infants show rapid growth in vocabulary. Likewise, caregivers talk differently to their older versus younger toddlers. Here, we test whether mothers change how they talk about animals to their 18 and 23-month-old infants and whether these changes relate to the child's age or the specific animal words the child knew.
