Examining Emotion Differentiation Deficits As a Proximal Predictor for Non-Suicidal Self-Injury

The present study aims to replicate prior findings linking nonsuicidal self-injury (NSSI) with low negative emotion differentiation. In a sample with a history of NSSI, when controlling for negative affect intensity, the proportion of EMA surveys where participants reported engagement in NSSI was significantly positively associated with negative emotion differentiation.
