When in Need: Improving the Effectiveness of Diversity Training through Conducting a Needs Assessment

Diversity training has been repeatedly criticized for its lack of effectiveness. We propose that diversity training would benefit from an organizational needs assessment conducted prior to training. This enables leaders and trainers to tailor training design, delivery methods, and evaluation to organizational goals and members, thereby maximizing its effectiveness.
