Sunk Cost and Completion Effects in Progress Decisions Involving Time

Abstract
Completion effects may account for sunk cost effects in scenarios involving investment of time. Our study manipulated levels of completion and sunk cost across 10 escalation of commitment scenarios and found main effects for both sunk cost and completion effects, with completion effects being a stronger predictor in regression analysis.
