Delusions of Wealth: Narrative Engagement with Fiction and the Perception of Wealth

This study expands on prior research about narrative engagement and social sampling by exploring the psychological mechanisms through which fictional literature can influence the audience's perception of wealth, social classes, wealth redistribution. Results suggest that participants who read fiction about wealthy characters tend to overestimate average wealth in the US.
