Does Divine Forgiveness Impede Interpersonal Apologies? Understanding When and Why Being Forgiven By God Affects Conciliatory Behavior

How does divine forgiveness (i.e., forgiveness by God) impact interpersonal apologies? We propose that by helping transgressors release self-resentment and feel forgiven, transgressors who perceive they have received divine forgiveness will be less likely to pursue victim by offering an apology.
