Parental Socialization of Children's Coping before, during, and after Tornadoes

Abstract
We explored socialization of children's coping in the context of experiencing tornadoes. Thirty-nine parents described their coping-related interactions with their children before, during, and after the tornado. Comments were coded as problem solving, social support, religious, emotion regulation, distraction, or family level. Problem solving and social support strategies were common.
