What Does It Mean to be a ‘Grown-up'? Perceptions of Adulthood in the UK from Age 18-77

Being grown-up is traditionally inferred by social roles, like marriage and parenthood, but in our sample, 722 participants defined adulthood using psychological qualities like "feeling in control of my life". These perceptions of adulthood varied by age. Results from this study will inform the design of psychological measures of adulthood.
