Multicultural Competence of Pre-Employment Police Evaluations: How Police Psychologists Conduct Assessments

Police psychologists (n = 38) were surveyed to examine how they defined, detected, and addressed "misreads"- which are misinterpretations based on the phrasing of assessment questions- during pre-employment evaluations (PPEs) of police applicants.  Reported methods of evaluating applicants with misreads varied. Examining misreads disseminates information that supports high-quality PPEs.
