Impacts of Embodied Representations on Mechanical Reasoning

Abstract

This study examined the effects of embodied cognition on solving mechanical reasoning problems. Undergraduates with varying spatial abilities solved motion-verification tasks with arrows or human figures as cues. Results indicate differences in response times between arrows and human figures, suggesting implications for learning.
