Abstract
We examined the effects of (a) positive/reverse keying, and (b) positive/negative item phrasing and wording on validity at each of three response processes stages (interpretation, elaboration, response mapping) and overall. No significant effects were found for keying, but phrasing and wording differentially affected validity across stages and overall.
