Relationships in Emerging Adulthood: Parenting Styles and Relationship Quality

We examined the relationship between parenting style and the parent-child relationship quality in emerging adults. Students indicated the parenting style of their parents and the quality of the relationship, including disclosure, emotional closeness, and perception of legitimacy. Results indicated that authoritarian style parenting was negatively associated with relationship quality.
