Abstract
Scientists experience adverse conditions leading to burnout and attrition. Controlling for basic needs satisfaction, the unique effect of transcendent well-being indicators (aesthetic experiences) on flourishing was greater than the unique effect of eudaimonic indicators (work meaningfulness) among scientists. Aesthetics thus seemingly represent an underexplored higher aspect of well-being.
