Teacher Reports of Behavior Issues Are Predictive of Cognitive Abilities at Age Nine

A latent class analysis revealed seven classes of children's behavior problems based on teacher reports, with one low-risk class and six classes of varying risk levels. Overall, better performance in five cognitive domains (e.g., passage comprehension) was associated with a greater likelihood of belonging to the low-risk class.
