The Impact of the Passion Subscale of Grit across Academic Domains

We investigate whether grit and its components are robust predictors of retention and graduation rates in science, technology, and mathematics (STM) as well as the health sciences (HS). The passion subscale predicted retention and graduation rates for students in STM. However, neither grit nor its subscales predicted outcomes in HS.
