Lonely and Selfish? Meta-Analysis of the Relationship between Loneliness and Prosociality.

Abstract
As evidence linking loneliness and prosociality remain inconclusive, a meta-analysis on 36 studies was conducted (n=43,508) to estimate the strength of this relationship. We found an effect of -0.118 indicating loneliness to be negatively correlated with prosociality, which was stable across different prosociality measures and moderated by sex ratio.
