Primary Social Network, but Not First-Generation Status, Predicts Student Engagement, Commitment, and Academic Risk in College Students

The study focuses on first generation student (FGS) status and academic risk. A self-report questionnaire gauged intrinsic and social factors contributing to academic risk or academic flourishing. There was no difference in FGS for the factors measured. A more robust predictor of academic outcomes came from social network attributes.
