Abstract
The expanding influence of populism in Europe raises concerns for the undermining of women's well-being. A panel model for fixed effects was used to assess the effects of populism on maternal mortality from 2000 to 2017 across European countries. Populist support was associated with long-term increases in maternal mortality ratio.
