Writing with Stereotypes: An Investigation of Gender Bias in Medical Reporting

Abstract
Gender bias enables discriminatory healthcare policies, but the extent to which it materializes in reporting is unclear. A linguistic analysis of COVID-19 case reports investigated how patient gender affects written language. Results show increased use of language associated with domesticity in case reports of female patients.
