Abstract

We conducted a meta-analysis of 31 studies reporting data on subjective sleepiness or cognitive performance after restricted sleep. We found medium sized effects for subjective sleepiness (p < .001) and small effects (ps < .001) for and performance in simple reaction time tasks, which indicate objective alertness.
