Inconsistency between Conventional Levels of Different Effect Size Measures: Practical Suggestions for Sample Size Planning

We explore a fundamental issue in sample size planning about the inconsistency between conventional levels of different effect size measures and provide practical suggestions. Both analytical derivations and Monte Carlo simulations showed that one would get inconsistent results of required sample sizes when different effect size measures were used.
