Abstract

In a longitudinal study from mid-2020 to early-2021, COVID-19 symptom severity predicted symptoms of generalized anxiety disorders among individuals with higher levels of rumination. This finding held true even when controlling for age, gender, race and sexuality. Rumination may exacerbate the negative impact of COVID-19 severity on anxiety symptoms.
