Abstract
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance use disorders commonly co-occur following sexual assault experiences among women, but their underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Using a purposive sample of 287 college women, this study found a significant indirect effect of PTSD symptom severity on substance use via persistent dissociation and coping self-efficacy.
