Abstract
We examine variability in responses to loneliness. Loneliness predicts support and strain given to friends and family. Parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) activity moderates the relationship between loneliness and strain given to family. Results suggest loneliness-related shifts in perceptions of social relationships may differ dependent on resting PNS activity.
