Are Jokes Funnier When They Rhyme or Alliterate? Are They Funnier in a Quiet Setting?

Abstract
People predicted they would find a comedy performance funnier if the venue was bustling (vs. quiet). However, the opposite was true. People also found jokes with rhymes and alliterations funnier than substantively equivalent non-rhyming and non-alliterating jokes. Throughout, easy processing increased funniness, but people seem unaware of this influence.
