Abstract

Emoji may influence perceptions of workplace emails. Using an online experimental study, we examined whether professionalism and likability differed based on emoji presence or absence. Highly agreeable individuals perceived the emoji sender as more likable and lower agreeability predicted lower likability; neither personality nor email type predicted competence.
