Parenting Style By Gender Dyads: Associations with Parental Control, Relationship Satisfaction, and College Social Adjustment

We collected students' reports of their parent's parenting style and perceptions of social adjustment, relationship satisfaction, and parental control. Results suggest that students' have greater social adjustment and relationship satisfaction when parenting is less controlling. Students report gender differences in control, with greater parental control from same-gender versus opposite-gender parents.
