Abstract

Qualitative examination of discrimination may generate insights that bolster interventions. In a mixed-methods study, emerging adults (N=299) described recent discrimination, interpersonal, and non-interpersonal events, indicating what aspect of each was most bothersome. People experiencing discriminatory events identified feelings of powerlessness, disrespect, and injustice as most upsetting, relative to other events.
