Self Esteem and Academic Performance in College Students: Positive Affect As a Potential Mediator

Abstract

How does academic feedback affect self-esteem and performance? False feedback was given to undergraduate students. The manipulation caused changes in self-esteem and positive affect, but these did not mediate a change in subsequent creative performance on the Remote Associates Test. Academic self-esteem contingency did not moderate the effect of feedback.
