Beyond Correction: Using the Bypassing Technique to Counter the Effects of Conspiracy Theories

The standard method for addressing the consequences of exposure to conspiracy theories is correction. This research suggests that bypassing-a novel technique in which alternative beliefs whose implications are opposite to those of the conspiracy theory are provided-is equally effective as correction in changing attitudes and policy support intentions.
