Memory for Tweets Versus Headlines: Does Message Consistency Matter?

Abstract
The microblog and news outlets with which we engage often convey conflicting messages. We examined memorability for tweets and news headlines with consistent and inconsistent messaging in-person (Experiment 1) and online (Experiment 2). Across experiments and tasks, participants remembered tweets better than news headlines even when the messaging was inconsistent.
