Detecting Redundant Items in Preparation for Network Modeling: Simulations and an Empirical Example with Anxiety Data

Redundant items can cause problems when estimating a psychological network model. We adapted and repurposed two equivalence tests and evaluated their performance in simulations versus a popular screening tool for detecting redundant items. We further compared these methods in empirical data and argue that the new approaches offer important benefits.
