Abstract

Many people believe psychotherapy is less effective for biologically-construed mental illnesses because they believe that psychotherapy is for the mind rather than the brain, that people cannot control the brain, and that presence of biological etiologies means an absence of psychosocial causes. Interventions for these misconceptions were found effective.
