Abstract
Child characteristics are predictive of parent responses to autistic children's negative emotions. Overall, parents of autistic children endorse more supportive, and less distressed or unsupportive parenting responses when their children have more support needs. However, autistic children's level of dysphoria predicted less supportive, and more unsupportive or distressed parental responses.
