Choosing the Number of Topics to Model Organizational Mission Statements

U.S. Federal agency mission statements were analyzed with factor analysis-based topic modeling. Solutions were evaluated with coherence, diversity, and utility metrics. Using coherence and diversity alone identified five topics. Utility analysis based on canonical correlation between topic scores and workforce survey data found amore useful eighteen-topic solution.
