Altered Neural and Behavioral Responses to Stress and Alcohol Cues in Individuals with Alcohol Use Disorder and Early Trauma

This study investigated responses to stress and alcohol in AUD and moderate drinking individuals with or without early trauma (ET). Those with co-occuring AUD and ET showed altered responses in neural circuits of stress and emotion regulation, localized in prefrontal-limbic-striatal regions, suggesting their vulnerability to stress-related drinking.
