Abstract

In a sample of 97 mother-preadolescent dyads, we found that preadolescents' disorganization/disorientation relates to their greater observed cognitive empathy and higher ratings of their mothers' happiness during a simulated phone task. Hostile-punitive and caregiving-role-confused patterns related to lower ratings of maternal sadness and anxiety, respectively.
