Abstract

Early Maladaptive Schema's (EMS) effects how we interpret the world. Using the experience sampling method, we assessed EMS in daily-life. Both increased negative affect and rumination are associated with EMS-activation in daily life. This supports both Beck's and Young's cognitive theories and emphasises the state and trait properties of EMS.
