The Importance of Education for Personality Development: Evidence from Longitudinal Data

This paper investigates whether education influences the Big Five personality traits using Dutch longitudinal data on 1,552 individuals followed over 10 years. The results indicate that most of the relationship is explained by having a high school or a higher education diploma, rather than the number of years of schooling.
