Playing a Musical Instrument Facilitates Acculturation and Diminishes Acculturative Stress

Musically active migrants to Germany (n=90) were compared with migrants who had never played a musical instrument (n=86) in their ratings of acculturation, and acculturation stress. Musical activity was related to lower levels of acculturative stress. This relationship was partially mediated by orientation to host culture.
