Abstract

Poor sleep quality predicted worse executive control measured under conditions of acute stress. Because executive control is essential for many abilities including the ability to regulate thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, these results suggest that sleep may influence the ability to effectively regulate stress responses and subsequent risk for psychopathology.
