Abstract
The current study examined the relationship between economic hardships associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and the pandemic response, perceived burdensomeness, thwarted belongingness, and suicidal ideation. Consistent with predictions, we found that economic hardship was associated with increased suicidal ideation, potentially through components of the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide.
