Examining Whether Racial Discrimination during Morally Injurious Events Is Associated with Guilt and Shame

Abstract
This study aims to examine differences in guilt and shame following potentially morally injurious events (PMIEs) that do and do not involve racial discrimination. Individuals who experienced a PMIE involving racial discrimination had significantly lower levels of event-related guilt and shame than individuals who experienced events not involving racial discrimination.
