How to Add Positive Emotional Elements to a Multimedia Lesson

Abstract
Two experiments investigated how to add positive emotional elements to a narrated slideshow lesson. Students performed better on posttests and reported a more positive learning experience when neutral objects were changed to colorful cartoon characters. Adding smiley faces and warm colors was beneficial in some cases.
