Changes in Food Preferences and Attentional Capture By High- and Low-Calorie Foods after Exposure to Heavy or Thin Same-Sex Bodies

We examined the effect of body exposure (thin vs. heavy bodies) on food preferences using eye-tracking. Exposure to thin bodies lowered preferences for savory high-calorie foods and heightened attentional capture toward low-calorie sweet foods, but attentional maintenance was unaffected. Rather, maintenance was sensitive to individual differences in food preferences.
