Promoting Current Memory Versus Preventing Future Decline: The Role of Self-Regulatory Focus in the Selection of Memory Strategies By Young and Older Adults

This study will examine the role of self-regulatory focus and memory beliefs in guiding memory strategy selection of young versus older adults. Results will help delineate how everyday memory strategy use is influenced by a promotion- or prevention-focus and whether personal beliefs and perceptions of strategy effectiveness moderate this relationship.
