Abstract
This study investigated dysphoric mood as a key confound in the link between retrospective self-reported trauma and safe primal beliefs. Consistent with our preregistered hypothesis, we found that the apparent link between prior trauma and safe primal beliefs was no longer significant after controlling for dysphoric mood and neuroticism.
