Daily Experiences of Discrimination As a Predictor of Romantic Relationship Quality: The Role of Perceived Regard

The research investigated the effects of daily experiences of racial and sexual orientation discrimination on perceived regard and romantic relationship quality. Results revealed that perceived discrimination predicted lower perceived partner regard independently of partner's regard and self-esteem. In turn, lower perceived partner regard predicted lower relationship satisfaction and commitment.
