Abstract
In an online study (N = 259), epistemic emotions (interest, surprise) and perceived credibility mediated the relation between prior political beliefs in the democratic system and accuracy ratings as well as sharing intentions when exposed to political true and fake news. Unexpectedly, the emotions' impact was mediated by perceived credibility.
